Eggs aside, there's one guarantee with chicken farming: poo! Unlike traditional wooden coops, your Eglu Cube is extremely easy to clean. Poop falls through the floor of the coop and collects in the removable droppings tray. By pressing the two hidden buttons, the tray can be slid out and thrown into your compost heap. The entire back panel is easily removed to access the slotted floor which, together with the dividing wall, can be removed for cleaning.
As everything is made of durable plastic, you can water, scrub or pressure-wash the whole coop.
We recommend the following cleaning program:
Empty bin: once a week (2 minutes)
Spray components: once a month (5 minutes)
Pressure washing or scrubbing: twice a year. Once in winter, and once out of winter (5 minutes).
MOVING YOUR CO-OP
If you want to put your chickens on fresh grass every few days, the optional puncture-proof wheels for the Eglu Cube make moving the coop and running easy! Simply engage the wheels by pressing and locking the pedals, then lift the front of the pen and pull. Your hens will be happy to wander around inside the pen as you move it to a new location.
If you keep your hens in the same place, we recommend putting sand (play or construction works well) in the pen. This helps keep things clean and dry. Any poo will mix with the sand, attracting worms for the chickens to eat.
The run of your Eglu Cube is made of extremely strong welded steel wire. Unlike traditional "chicken wire", predators can't break the wire panels. The wire is coated to protect against rust, and the green color blends in well with your garden.
To prevent predators like foxes, skunks and dogs from digging, the run is connected to a metal skirt that extends on all sides. Any predator that tries to dig will be stopped by the skirt.
RUN ACCESS DOORS
Your Cube has stable-style doors at the end of the pen for access to your hens, their feed and their water. Door pins keep the door securely closed or can be used to hold the door open. Just open the top door to change their food or water while preventing your hens from sneaking in from below. Open the bottom door when you let your hens roam free in the garden.
If you'd like to give your chickens a little more space, your Eglu Cube can be extended in 1 m increments. Each 1 m section contains coated steel tubes for support and 3 mesh panels. Additional sections can be added to your run at any time by removing the front of the run, adding the extension, and reattaching the front to the new run length.

At night, chickens roost as if they were in a tree hanging from a branch. Your Eglu Cube maximizes space by having a floor that IS the perch bar! This design minimizes fighting for the highest perch (all bars are level) and as chickens do most of their poo at night, droppings fall into the droppings tray for easy clean-up.
Collecting your eggs is so easy with the egg port on the side of the cube. Go in and collect your fresh eggs (sometimes still warm). If one of your hens is halfway through, come back later, but don't forget to give her a pat on the back for a job well done.
WHERE DO THEY LAY THEIR EGGS?
Your hens will lay their eggs in the nesting box inside the henhouse. At first, your hens may not know how to lay their eggs in the nesting box, so we suggest fake eggs and soft litter like pine shavings to show them where.
COOP THE DOOR OPENS FROM THE OUTSIDE
When it's time to open the door in the morning or close it at night, there's no need to fiddle with catches or temperamental mechanisms. Simply lift and turn the knob to open or close the door. The locking pin snaps into place when the knob is pressed, holding the door firmly open or closed.
EGLU CUBE DIMENSIONS AND MATERIALS
The Eglu Cube is perfect for 10 dwarf hens, 6-8 medium-sized chickens or 4-5 large breeds. When installing your Cube, you need to allow 90 cm of space at the back of the house to allow the chute to slide easily, and 60 cm at the front to allow you to open the pen door.
